US Navy Method

The US Navy body fat method is one of the most accurate ways to estimate body fat percentage without specialized equipment. It uses measurements of your neck, waist, and hip (for females) circumference along with height.

Essential Fat< 6%
Athletes6-13%
Fitness14-17%
Average18-24%
Obese≥ 25%

Measurement Tips

  • Measure waist at the navel level (narrowest point)
  • Measure neck just below the larynx (Adam's apple)
  • For females, measure hips at the widest point
  • Keep the tape level and snug but not tight
